Here are a few things that might make your life easier when using the TARDIS.
Last Name Gotcha!
- Problem
- Sometimes you get extra letters in a last name. Lou Quast for example has his last name entered in PeopleSoft as Quast Jr. As a result, any files named QuastL were not available for use in his profile.
- Solution
- Make a copy of his headshot in the TARDIS, yes you can edit directly in the TARDIS, and name the copy QuastJrL. This file was now available in his profile, and having the original file ensures it is available if by chance the PeopleSoft data is corrected.
Image Dimensions
We all agreed years ago that headshot should be 150px wide by 225px tall. So how do you know at a glance that the images in the TARDIS are the right size?
- Windows Users
- With the TARDIS headshots folder open, select the view option “Details”The files will now display in a list with columns, such as Name, Date modified, and Type.Right click on any of those headings and you will see a pop-up window with more options. Click More… at the very bottom and then select “Dimensions”
You now have pixel dimension information displaying by each file!
- Apple Users
- I haven’t figured this one out yet, sorry. If someone has an idea let us know!
Edit Directly in TARDIS
You can make copies of files in the TARDIS. You can open files in Photoshop from the TARDIS and save the output directly to the TARDIS.
The TARDIS behaves just like any other folder on your computer, except:
- It is on a server somewhere else.
- You share this space with your content strategist colleagues.
- Every action you complete is replicated immediately on the People Tool server.
