University of Chicago: Community engagement component: Bachelor in urban studies from College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (BAUS)

The University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) works toward making the places in which people live better for everyone. 

Pre-professional program addressing to gain knowledge and understanding of cities.

Community engagement activities 

Two specific programmatic elements of SL experience: the capstone project and the internship experience. These, are designed to connect students with research projects, community engagement, and public events. 

Capstone is designing as learning in action and provides experiences that allows students to integrate classroom learning with a problem solving in practice.

Internship experience (UPA491) requires 225 hours of service learning/practical experience through an internship placement. Allows students to learn from professional environments, connect theory to practice, explore career options, gain knowledge of the workplace, and contribute to the community.
